Description
Perched atop a headland within The Landing’s 1,000-acre estate, The Cooper Residence is a masterpiece of architectural and interior design. Conceived by renowned New Zealand architect Pip Cheshire, the residence features a cruciform layout with a central barn-style structure flanked by modern pavilions, all constructed from enduring natural materials.
Inside, the residence houses five luxurious suites, each with its own unique character and private ensuite. Notably, one suite is situated within an elliptical stone observatory tower, offering an atmospheric retreat with sweeping views.
The interiors, designed by Seattle-based Terry Hunziker, blend rich timber, blackened steel, and flaxen earthy tones, creating spaces that are both grand and intimate. The residence also showcases a significant collection of Māori taonga (treasures), historic artifacts, and contemporary New Zealand art, adding cultural depth to the luxurious setting.
Guests can indulge in bespoke culinary experiences prepared by a personal chef, utilizing produce from The Landing’s own gardens and vineyard. The residence’s amenities include a grand wine cellar and tasting room, a private library, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and expansive lounges with fireplaces.
Beyond the residence, The Landing offers six private beaches, native bush and bird sanctuaries, and a range of outdoor activities such as snorkelling, hiking, boating, and big-game fishing.
Whether hosting an intimate gathering or seeking a secluded retreat, The Cooper Residence provides an unparalleled experience where luxury meets the natural beauty and rich history of New Zealand’s Bay of Islands.
