Kokomea PurePod
Golden Hour, Every Hour - A Kāpiti Coast Hideaway
Description
Ocean views, olive trees, and complete stillness above the coast.
Perched on a private grapevine nursery high above the Kāpiti Coast, Kokomea PurePod offers a rare blend of seclusion and beauty - just an hour north of Wellington. From this hillside perch, you'll take in sweeping views over the Tasman Sea and out to Kāpiti Island, with golden sunsets and birdsong as your daily soundtrack.
Nestled beside native trees and framed by olive groves, this off-grid retreat invites you to relax, unplug, and savour the rhythms of nature. Wake to the glint of morning sun on the ocean, then spend your day doing as much or as little as you like.
The Journey
Your PurePod experience begins with a scenic drive up the Kāpiti coast. Once you reach the property, a short nature walk leads you through The Gully - a regenerating pocket of native bush that winds alongside a spring-fed stream.
Along the way, keep an eye out for kōwhai, rātā, and pōhutukawa, and listen for the tui, kererū, kaka, and fantails flying in from Kāpiti Island. This once-farmed gully is now being restored to native forest - a peaceful, living ecosystem right outside your door.
A Coastal Sanctuary
Set well apart from the rest of the world, Kokomea PurePod offers complete privacy and jaw-dropping views. From your glass cabin, you’ll look out across native bush and open sky to the sea beyond - no people, no traffic, no noise. Just you, the land, and time to truly switch off.
Inside, you’ll find all the thoughtful comforts: a luxuriously soft bed, fully equipped kitchenette, fabulous shower, flush toilet, telescope, games, and books. Step onto the deck, pour a glass of local wine, and let nature take over.
Guided Farm Tour & Experiences
If you’d like to explore, join one of the friendly farmers for a guided walk through the gully and wetland conservation project. Learn about traditional plant uses, meet the working dogs, and take part in a kawa kawa tea ceremony sweetened with farm-grown honey. You may even plant a native tree as part of their ongoing restoration work.
Further afield, the Kāpiti Coast offers west coast beaches, island adventures, cycling trails, and artisan food producers for those eager to venture beyond the pod.
