Te Arai links

Where World Class Links Meet the Wild Pacific. Experience the raw beauty and refined play of Te Arai

Experience

There is a specific energy to Te Arai Links that is hard to find elsewhere.
A blend of raw, coastal beauty and quiet, intentional luxury. From the moment you arrive, the focus is on a seamless connection to the landscape. Whether you are walking the fairways of the South Course or watching the sunrise over the Pacific, the experience feels personal and unhurried. I find it’s the perfect retreat for those who appreciate the finer details: the crunch of the sand, the salt in the air, and the knowledge that every aspect of your stay has been thoughtfully curated to feel like it was made just for you.

Stay

Coastal Sanctuaries: The accommodation at Te Arai Links is a masterclass in "luxuriously understated" design. Architecturally crafted by Studio John Irving with interiors by Jenni Kayne, these spaces use a palette of weathered timber, stone, and sand to feel like a natural extension of the dunes. Whether you are here for a solo golf retreat or a multi-generational escape, the layout is designed to immerse you in the quiet rhythm of the Pacific.

The Suites Perfectly scaled for two, these 45m² suites are the heart of the property, located just a short walk from Ric’s and the practice facilities. Available in king or queen-twin configurations, each room features a private deck and expansive views over the South Course toward the ocean.

The Ocean Cottages These two-bedroom, 140m² retreats are my top recommendation for friends traveling together. Nestled into the landscape for maximum privacy, they feature a generous open-plan living area and a private patio with an ocean-facing fire pit, ideal for a nightcap under the stars.

The Villas For the ultimate group experience, the four-bedroom Villas sit along the 18th fairway of the North Course. These are true "homes away from home" with full designer kitchens, indoor fireplaces, and ample space for up to eight guests. Each bedroom is its own private ensuite retreat, ensuring that even in a group setting, you have a sanctuary of your own.

Taste

Dining at Te Arai is an exploration of Northland’s incredible natural larder.

Ric’s is the spirited heart of the property. With a relaxed, "barefoot luxury" atmosphere, it’s the ultimate spot to unwind. Centered around a roaring wood-fired pizza oven, the menu is built for sharing and easy enjoyment. What makes it truly special is its location directly alongside ‘The Playground’—the world’s largest putting green at 2.5 acres. It’s a space where a family lunch or post-round drinks naturally transition into a playful afternoon on the grass.

Ocean Restaurant offers a front-row seat to the Pacific. Perfectly positioned overlooking the 18th fairway of the South Course, the views stretch across the dunes to the horizon and beyond. The dining experience here is elevated and intentional, featuring seasonal menus that celebrate the exceptional quality of local Northland produce. It is the perfect setting for a long, thoughtful dinner where the landscape is as much a part of the meal as the food itself.

Explore

While the golf is undeniably world-class. Featuring the legendary North and South courses the exploration doesn't end at the green.

Coastal Wandering: Take a private path down to the white sands of Te Arai beach for a morning surf or a quiet walk along the water’s edge.

Nature & Wellness: The surrounding area is rich with walking trails through native bush and dunes. For a more restorative pace, the wellness facilities are designed to help you decompress.

Beyond the Links: I can arrange for you to explore the nearby Matakana region, famous for its boutique vineyards, local markets, and artisanal producers. A perfect day trip for those who want to taste more of the local culture
