This river-side campsite really does put the glamorous in glamorous camping
With every little detail thought of.
Mangaone Cliffs is situated just 30 minutes from Napier city in the Hawke’s Bay.
This river-side campsite really does put the glamorous in glamorous camping. Every little detail has been thought through – with nothing but the most luxurious facilities on offer.
The campsite is made up of two tents, with separate bathroom and kitchen buildings. A large, safari-style tent is the ultimate in luxury for couples – with an opulent king-sized bed, Natural Flame fireplace, gorgeous oversized armchairs and all the stylish touches of a 5-star hotel. The second tent (which is available from 1 September – 30 May) is a magical ‘Lotus Belle’ – ideal for kids, with four comfortable mattress-style, beds.
The campsite sits on a working sheep and beef farm, at the foot of magnificent 75-metre cliffs on the edge of the Mangaone River. A line of native Kanuka trees creates privacy and shade, with double outdoor baths nestled amongst the wiry trunks, overlooking the river.
This is a place for serious relaxation to be had. Sit on your spacious covered tent-deck, drink in hand, taking in the sunset views and watching the kids splashing and swimming in the river. Listen to the tranquil sound of the water running over rocks, native birdlife and marvel at the enormity of the limestone cliffs towering above.
Mangaone Cliffs Glamping is stunning accommodation in the heart of the Hawkes Bay. If you’re looking for an extra-special experience – this is it.
Eating & Drinking
Mangaone Cliffs is self-catering. Just bring your own food and cook meals using the BBQ and facilities provided in your private camp kitchen. You’ll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you’ll need.
The Puketapu Pub (well known in Hawkes Bay) is only 20 mins from the campsite and is fantastic for lunches and dinners and very family-friendly! It’s great food and great prices, plus if you want to work off your meal afterwards – you can walk or bike the Puketapu Track, a 17km loop from the Pub to Taradale and back along the river.
If you’re keen to explore the wider local foodie scene, Napier is just 30 minutes away. The Church Road Winery comes recommended for lunch and The Mission Estate Vineyard is great for lunch or dinner.
The nearest supermarket for supplies is 30 minutes away in Napier at Tamatea Pak n Save or Greemeadows New World.
